EPISODE 6 QUICK FIRE RECAP – MY HEART WILL GO ON

A EMOTIONAL episode. Not just on the personal front, but also the gameplay front! If I have learnt anything from watching Survivor it is that acting on emotion rarely results in success.

TAKE AWAYS

  • Playing with your head was benched this week in favour of emotional moves. Ciera because she felt devalued by Savage. Kass for booting Woo over Spencer.
Kass. Spencer. Fischbach.

Kass. Spencer. Fischbach.

  • The true Kass has reared her ugly head, one feels that this was payback for Woo picking Tony over her in Cagayan
Loyalty over Evil

Loyalty over Evil

  • How lucky is Spencer? Seriously. Why would you leave that guy around? Woo is loyal to his own detriment, predictable and would be a target at the merge. Keep him over Spencer!
  • Savage needs to think or he will be gone in a few weeks. Why tell Ciera that she was the fake vote? Ciera plays on emotion and needs her ego stroked, she does not like feeling she is expendable (who does?)
  • A distinct lack of Abi… Don’t worry the merge will bring her back to her best!
  • Woo was very unlucky this season. The switches never suited him and if he last another week could have gone a lot deeper in the game

HALF-BAKED PREDICTIONS BASED ON EDITING NARRATIVE

  • Kass is gone next week. Her lovey dovey “I have changed” edit makes sense now. Just a lead up to make her boot even sweeter and ram home more Probst wisdom… YOU MUST CHANGE HOW YOU PLAYED THIS TIME AROUND!
  • Stephen is also on borrowed time, trying to strike too early, with the merge I can only presume that Savage will not want him around much longer
  • Tash and Spencer will go deep now
Memories... like the corner's of my mind

Memories… like the corner’s of my mind

  • This is looking like the first season where there might be an amazing and deserving final 3
  • Jeremy’s edit continues to look like a winner’s one. We are not being saturated by him yet, but he is consistently being portrayed as someone in control and with plans that others do not know about

TAKE A LOOK

With the merge finally arriving with 13 left on the island it is a good time to reflect on my pre game predictions. I split them into three categories in relation to their winning chances… No Chance, Half a Chance and Super Chance. Let’s see how it is looking:

No Chance: Joe, Kass, Kimmi, Monica, Abi, Terry D, Vytas, Shirin   4/8 remain

Half a Chance: Savage, Keith, Ciera, Spencer, Varner, Wiglesworth, Peih-Gee   5/7 remain

Super Chance: Tash, Fishbach, Jeremy, Kelley Went, Woo   4/5 remain

Only Jeff can get away with this dialogue...

Only Jeff can get away with this dialogue…

The preview for this week is bad news for one contestant. Someone is going home overnight. Furthermore, another tribe swap is on the cards! So this episode is likely to be a mix of sorrow and excitement.

  • Kass is visibly upset in the preview, this means that a Ta Keo tribe member will be leaving our screens. Only thing that can stop the powerhouse is the health of a loved one back home.
  • Due to Kass’ tears and confessional that leaves Kelley Went, Terry, Joe, Keith and Ciera as possible exits.
  • From the press images releases (which I won’t show due to spoilers) it is going to be an emotional exit
  • The tribe swap will lead to Abi continuing to run the show, no matter what tribe she is on
  • By law of averages, two of the original three super group, Jeremy, Joe and Savage will reunite
  • The game will kick up a gear with players having to adapt game plays again!

WHO GOES?

With another tribe swap on the cards lets look at our remaining contestants from top to bottom!

POWER RANKINGS – A sliding scale of ‘In the best position’ to ‘in danger’

  1. Jeremy – Boston Strong… Cambodia Strong
  2. Spencer – Playing smart and in Jeremy’s pocket
  3. Kelley Went – Like Jeremy, on top in gameplay and with an idol in check
  4. Abi – Not going anywhere
  5. Tash – Going where the wind takes her
  6. Kimmi – Big moves win Survivor, has it in her
  7. Keith – Under the radar again
  8. Wiglesworth – Dodge a big bullet last week and may be forgotten now
  9. Savage – Has alliances on both sides
  10. Terry – Plugging along but will need to watch his back
  11. Joe – Every tribe swap leads him closer to getting the boot
  12. Ciera – Meh
  13. Woo – Hasn’t made alliances on any tribe he has been on and seen as a target
  14. Kass – Much easier to watch but can’t see people trusting her when it comes to a vote

Gut Feel Danger Zone!

Immunity involves a catapult and a staggering decision… Jeremy doesn’t compete?

Monica plots to keep the girls strong… Kimmi doesn’t like the sound of that and goes full Samuel L Jackson!

Kimmi is sick and tired of these...

TAKE AWAYS

  • Jeff is banging on about ‘Second Chances’ a bit too much, no one gives a stuff if Ciera is competing in a challenge she was done once before
  • Spencer is growing each week… but like last time not much has changed in his endeavours in securing power
  • Woo is still at the bottom of his tribe despite his heroics

  • Kimmi is to be commended for making things happen
Season 1 & Season 2

Season 1 & Season 2 Girl Power

  • Jeremy, Fishy and Kimmi’s decision to not inform Spencer of the vote was a masterstroke

HALF-BAKED PREDICTIONS BASED ON EDITING NARRATIVE

  • The episode preview for next week is a big blunder by the editors. A Ta Keo member is certain to be going home. We see Jeff waking someone up? Sick loved one perhaps? Then we see Kass in night goggle vision upset. So Kass ain’t going nowhere but a Ta Keo tribe member is.

  • Next week will be a double boot, Ta Keo evictee overnight then the game rolls on
  • Kimmi will be a big player post merge

WHAT IS LIKELY TO HAPPEN?

A very, very, very important episode! If Angkor lose it will be a shame, purely because we haven’t seen enough of the other tribes. If some players can scrape through the game will again turn on its head.

  • Angkor to finally get a win, smaller numbers will result in the other tribes having to sit players out. This works in their advantage.
  • Kass to again try something human
  • Spencer to play way too hard again but disguise this as ‘building relationships’
  • Someone on Angkor to look for an idol
  • Abi to self destruct… again
  • Ta Keo to win again and get a false sense of security. Never, ever get comfortable.
  • Jeff to salivate at speaking to a new group at tribal.

HALF-BAKED PREDICTIONS BASED ON EDITING NARRATIVE

WHAT IS LIKELY TO HAPPEN?

One thing is for sure, the tribe swap will be fantastic news for some and terrible news for others. Other likely things we could see could include:

  • The reward challenge looks brutal, energy might be better saved for immunity
  • Abi will likely have a hand in whoever goes home… even if Angkor dodge tribal!
  • Jeremy will make a decision over whether he keeps his idol a secret or not
  • Spencer will do his best Hugh Grant impression and bumble his way through talking to his female tribe mates
  • Immunity will be decided by a puzzle again
  • Tribal will get nasty regardless of the tribe, a number of players haven’t experienced it yet
  • Woo will bring his A game!

WHO GOES?

To narrow down who goes let’s take a look who has the most power first… then look at how tribal may play out.

POWER RANKINGS – A sliding scale of ‘In the best position’ to ‘in danger’

Dem Animals

Angkor

  1. Abi – No chance of going home and is the vital swing vote
  2. Tash – Not as big a threat as Savage or Woo, flying under radar
  3. Savage – On the right side of the numbers
  4. Woo – More appealing and trustworthy than Varner
  5. Varner – In deep. Dodge a bullet last week

Bayon

  1. Jeremy – Step ahead socially and has the idol as insurance
  2. Spencer – The bonding session makes him Jeremy’s right hand man, safe as houses now
  3. Kimmi – Persona non grata
  4. Wiglesworth – Laying low
  5. Monica – Persona non grata II
  6. Fishbach – Somehow has been painted as the least trustworthy

Ta Keo

  1. Kelley Went – Not a physical threat, pleasant and has that idol
  2. Terry – Loved by all and old enough to not be seen as dangerous as Joe
  3. Joe – In a few weeks time he will be in big trouble. Not yet
  4. Keith – Persona non brat III
  5. Ciera – Not picked for challenges and known flipper
  6. Kass – No amount of editing can remove the fact that she can not be trusted

Gut Feel Danger Zone!

TAKE AWAYS

  • The three tribe swap was a true shake up, in past seasons the swap sometimes doesn’t achieve much, this time it has
  • Do not f@#* with Abi. She will get you out.
  • Varner could be on borrowed time
  • Monica, Kimmi and Keith are apparently still out on the island
  • There is still an idol to be found on Angkor
  • Savage needs to keep his emotions in check
  • This season is turning at break neck speed!
  • You must be ready to change your game at any moment

HALF-BAKED PREDICTIONS BASED ON EDITING NARRATIVE

  • The three tribe swap will not last long, predicting a two tribe split when 16 or 14 players remaining
  • Jeremy is getting a ‘making the most of your second chance’ edit, his idol will have a big impact on this season
  • Serial bullet dodger Spencer is in it for the long hall now
  • One of Monica, Keith or Kimmi will make final 3
  • We are being lulled into a false sense of security with Kass
  • Tash continues to get the Sandra edit, she will make the loved ones visit

SNEAK PEEK

Next week it heats up!
